About LCIS

Cancer patients and their families describe their experiences as a journey, from getting to grips with a first diagnosis through treatment and recovery, and sometimes relapse and loss.

When LCIS talk with patients, families, carers and health professionals, there is always a need for clear, direct information to support understanding, planning and decisions.

The LCIS website tries to offer a practical Lanarkshire local perspective and links to support people on their journey.

If you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve our service to people like yourself, please let us know by clicking here

Thank you.

ABOUT THE SITE

The LCIS Project Team have tried to make information about cancer and support services more accessible to all people in Lanarkshire and we have tried to do this by:

Touch screen - Useful if you have not used a computer or the internet before.
Click here for touch screen and computer locations

Site links There are specialist sites for information, medications, treatments and different kinds of support. You can visit these for the information you want, then return to the LCIS site.
Click here to find out about touchscreens and how to move around the site

Boosting use - Your local library has a computer service that can be used to visit this site. This might be useful if you do not have your own computer, if you refer someone who doesn’t have a computer – or if you need a little help with the whole computer thing. North Lanarkshire Libraries - South Lanarkshire Libraries

TV Access - North Lanarkshire Council Library Service enable people in Lanarkshire to access cancer information using their TV.

Additional Support - Some people may need extra help getting the information they want, perhaps because of language, mobility or physical challenges. This page provides links to support services for those people who may have additional needs.
Click here to go to Additional Support/Language Services.

Young People - Young patients, young carers and younger family members have their own section for contacts and support.
Click here to go to Young People

Patients and Carers - In order to provide information and support relevant to patients and carers the LCIS Project Team conducted research with patients and carers and asked them what they wanted.
