The Scottish Executive's National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Well-being aims to raise awareness about the need for good mental health and well-being among the general public and help improve the quality of life and social inclusion of people who experience mental health problems.
Scotland's Mental Health First Aid is based on work pioneered in Australia. After an encouraging Scottish pilot some changes were made to the course and it is now being rolled out across Scotland. The course is for everyone in Scotland, whoever they are and wherever they live and work.

Healthy Working Lives
Scotland is a nation with an ageing and declining population. Present demographic trends do not predict any change in the foreseeable future. To make the most effective contribution to economic growth, the physical and mental health and wellbeing of Scotland’s working age people requires to be improved.
The successful initiatives of Scotland’s Health at Work (SHAW) and Safe and Healthy Working (SaHW), have been brought together to form a single new integrated organisation, the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives. This will provide a national focus for taking forward this critically important work.
